We had a lovely (and relatively quiet) Christmas here. None of our relatives are in the area, so we hung out around the house all day.

Katie and Julie woke up at 4 AM. And again at 6 AM. And again at 7 AM. At 8 AM, we finally gave up and got out of bed and went downstairs to see what Santa had brought. The results were quite satisfactory. :)

[livejournal.com profile] daisy_knotwise and I bought the girls inexpensive 9-inch tablets from Sam's Club for their use. This makes more sense to our mind than a Nintendo DS, because the units are cheaper than a DS and so are the games. :) And Katie and Julie have gotten used to playing Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja on my tablet, so...

Dinner was lovely: a roast, mashed potatoes, corn pudding, and rolls. The plan to make a chocolate pie using my Mom's old recipe was postponed until tomorrow due to terminal exhaustion.

And I think Gretchen and I will go downstairs in a minute after the girls are in bed and watch A Muppet Christmas Carol, something that she's been looking forward to all day. And it's her turn to have her way.

Happily, it's a movie that I'm perfectly happy to watch too. And the company should be good. :)

Merry Christmas everyone!

I was luckier than you in regards to the whole waking-up thing. My niece and nephew didn't do the multiple-times waking-up thing. Then again, he's 14, and she's 11, so I think they may have learned a modicum of patience.
