It may well have been seventy degrees outside today if you were in the sun. This was not true if you were sitting under the overhang at Wrigley Field with the wind blowing in your face. The young woman from Miami sitting in front of us noted that she could see her breath condensing in the chilly lake-breeze air.

And the Cubs blew a 4-1 lead, then came back to take a 7-6 lead, then blew that with two outs and two strikes in the top of the ninth, eventually losing 10-7 in the tenth.

On the other hand, Marmol pitched a scoreless eighth inning (and was briefly in line for the win), so I'm sure he'll be reinstated as closer shortly...

I was following that game on MLB GameDay during the Westercon 66 staff meeting in Sacramento. A fair number of Giants fans are active staff of Westercon 66, so there was mild disruption of the meeting when that ninth-inning home run tied the game and when the Giants went on to win. It was significantly warmer in Sacramento, too. But I sympathize with you, as I used to have the "iron fan" season ticket package when the Giants played at Candlestick Park: all the night games. I earned the Croix de Candlestick (presented to fans attending extra-inning night games, it's a button with a picture of the Giants logo with icicles hanging off it) three times.

If the weather in LA is like the weather in San Diego today, I suspect that people will be complaining about the cold during today's Padres vs. Dodgers game.

After the newsworthy event at their last meeting, last week in San Diego, hopefully the cold weather and the baseball on the field is all that is worth note.
