Ingress Away

I've made much less progress in my second month of Ingress than I did in the first. I've walked much less and rolled up fewer AP, partly due to the weather and partly due to work.
But I did get to the park this afternoon where I racked up 20K AP in 20 minutes.
At that rate, it's another four and a half hours to level 8.
And I do need the exercise. :)

Date: 2015-08-11 04:14 am (UTC)I made it to level 12 on Friday. It took me five hours of solo rebuilding our 100+-portal farm. I used 680 resos, but between deploying, linking and fielding the whole darn thing, I scrubbed 400k AP out of that cemetery in an afternoon. Oy.
Now I'm slowing down. Gonna focus on ops, and training the rookies, and not look at how loooooooong the climb is from 12 to 13. :-D

Date: 2015-08-13 04:59 am (UTC)14 will take a fair bit longer, since while I have the badges for that one too, it needs a giant pile of AP (and then I expect to be sitting at 14 for a -very- long time, since the AP and badge requirements for 15 and 16 are simply nuts).

Date: 2015-08-12 02:40 pm (UTC)If you really get into it, you will discover many things you never knew about your local area. I know where all the parks big and small, churches, temples, synagogs and historical landmarks are in my town (and many neighboring ones) because of Ingress. Depending on your interest and time, you can meet people that you never would have encountered otherwise.

Date: 2015-08-12 05:17 pm (UTC)Ingress encourages me to get up and walk around, which is good for me.
Mind you, there's also wardriving for parts and links when Gretchen is driving or when I'm on the shuttle to Wrigley Field, but that's not the main activity of the game.

Date: 2015-08-23 12:59 am (UTC)I'm playing most days now; made it to level 2 several days ago, but I still haven't finished training. Most of my play is just around my neighborhood: discovering places of interest (portals), hacking for resources, recharging resonators, and occasionally linking and even once or twice creating a field.
Last night — beautiful weather for a change!— strolling and playing around 11pm, I made my first RealSpace™ contact: A couple, who both had their
smartphonesscanners out, asked me "Are you playing Ingress?" One of them was an agent whose name I'd seen a lot on COMM in my area. We had some really nice conversation, and they gave me some useful tips, both then and by COMM later: glyph-hacking! :-) I'm trying to make sketches of the glyphs on my scanner, with their meanings, so I can learn them, so as to get them right and get a speed bonus.η: Aaand.... I just added that icon!
