It's Hotter than Hell in Chicago Tonight

It's pretty warm in Des Plaines too. We've been in the middle of a heat wave since last week. The thermometer out back registered 104.7 this morning. (
daisy_knotwise: "I listen to that radio station!") Personally, I'd be happy to see this stop any time now.
It being this warm and miserable, I made sure to take the girls to the pool this afternoon for an hour or so. The water was as warm as I ever remember it being. Then it was back into the car and off to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner, because it's close to the Best Buy where our new vacuum cleaner was waiting.
See, our old Hoover WindTunnel 2 stopped working, because the "self-cleaning" HEPA filter was completely clogged. I looked around on line and discovered that the problem is endemic and that a new filter would cost $69 and would then get clogged beyond use again. The handle on the beastie was also broken some time back and patched with electrical tape. I figured that I'd bought the lemon, so I was responsible for finding a replacement.
It turns out that Best Buy had a very nice Dyson vacuum cleaner on sale for $75 off. And if we went to Du Page County to pick it up, we could save on the sales tax. (Also, it was actually in stock there.) So I ordered it on line and we picked it up tonight.
The marvel of the vacuuming world is now assembled in our family room. We'll try it tomorrow when little girls aren't trying to sleep. :)

Date: 2011-07-22 12:55 pm (UTC)I will get a Dyson next but not until I use up all the bags that I have. I bought a box of 24 bags a while back off eBay for cheap, so it'll be another year or three. Woot has Dysons on sale for pretty cheap once a month or so, I'll pick one up there once I get in the market.
